Thanks so much for this timely post, MJ. I, too, have just within the past week found out that I have a health issue that can possibly be life-threatening (a heart defect). I, too, am in the “waiting room” of testing to find out what next will need to be done. But I, too, am labeling this a blessing because, along with a friend of mine who has just started rounds of chemo due to liver tumors, count EACH DAY as a GIFT from a God who wants nothing but the best for me, for her, for you.

And it was His way, I believe, to bring your many books to my attention, especially “The Happiness Makeover” and “Attitudes of Gratitude”. They have been SO helpful in helping me re-frame my negative/worrisome thoughts into looking for the good in every situation and circumstance.

I’m astounded at my “falling forward” peace I have right now, as does my friend w/ liver cancer. We just feel so blessed to be able to focus on what’s right and good; to get a “second chance” to appreciate the life we are experiencing around us. Seeing life from a “higher perspective”. Not taking anything for granted.

Blessings to you, MJ. Thanks so much for all your encouraging writings! They are helping me “move forward” in joy.

    Prayers for your recovery!

Great post, MJ! I’m a big fan of yours, not to mention Lance Armstrong, having been a cyclist and having watched nearly every minute of Tour de France coverage since 1991. I’m also a financial planner, and I couldn’t help but notice the relevance of what you write, not just to health setbacks, but to the financial setbacks some are experiencing in this tough economy. So much so that I built my newsletter around this theme, crediting you, of course. Check it out: http://www.newmeans.com/newsletters/July2009.html.

Best wishes to you in your recovery! We hope to hear good news soon.
